EVENT: Drive to and Tour of the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier Museum, Alameda, CA (http://www.uss-hornet.org/) WHEN: Sunday, January 29, at 10:00 a.m. - approx. 2:00 p.m. WHERE: 707 W. Hornet Ave., Pier 3 (it's the big one!) Alameda, CA Here are some directions and maps: http://www.uss-hornet.org/visit/car/ Roy Welsh will be there with his silver Fiero if the weather's nice. We're cleared to park as a group dockside near the entrance gangplank. CARAVAN: If you want to drive together from the south, you can meet at our house, 35646 Dee Place, Fremont, at 8:45 and we'll plan to leave by 9:00. There's parking on the side on Tamayo Street. COST: Roy has arranged a group rate of $10 admission. He will also accept an extra buck or two to tip our tour guide(s). DRESS: For those that haven't been, dress warm and wear comfortable walking shoes with non- slip soles. Bring some water and/or light snacks you can put in your pockets if you will need some during the 3-4 hr. tour. LUNCH: We have a lunch reservation just around the corner from the former base at Pier 29 Waterfront Restaurant, 1148 Ballena Blvd., Alameda, CA. http://www.pier29restaurant.com/ RSVP: So we know we've got everybody and have enough seating for lunch, please let us know if you plan to come for just the tour, just lunch, or both. As usual this time of year, if it's nice bring your classic, if not, we'll go with the daily drivers anyway. Bring 2-way radios if you're caravanning and want to communicate.
