OCTOBER 2009 NEWSLETTER
Remember we are doing the VA run on November 8 and the Toys for Tots cruise on December 5th, please start collecting the items for the Vets and the toys for the children. For the VA Hospital run we will meet on Sunday , November 8 at the Newark Home Depot Parking Lot corner of Thornton and Cedar , for those wanting to have breakfast meet at the Beehive Restaurant (formerly Bakers Square) at 7:00 AM, we will start to caravan to the VA at 8:30 AM.
The club will be donating 50 goody bags to the Vets. Here are some ideas for items the Vets can use.
Acceptable
Gloves - - toothpaste/toothbrushes - -shampoo - - shaving cream - - men & women deodorant - - combs/hairbrushes - - socks regular and anti skid - - phone cards - - stamps - - small water bottles - -sugar/caffeine free soft drinks - - hats - - tee shirts - - plastic cups - - plastic bottles - -sunscreen - - playing cards - - note pads/journals/pens/pencils - - sugar free candy - - puzzle books
Not Acceptable
Scissors - - bottle openers - - razors/blades - - bar soaps - -hair spray/moose - - no sexually explicit, violent music or movies - - no cigarettes or alcohol.
Ron will be collecting money to purchase T shirts, I will be getting the 3 shirts for $10.00 from a shirt vender and purchase 50 tee shirts.
The Toys for Tots Run will be Saturday, December 5, we will meet at Dino’s at 2:00PM and cruise to LOV Newark to deliver the toys. Requested are unwrapped new toys for both boys and girls.
For our Club Hosted Holiday Dinner for current club members we have selected the Market Broiler, 39195 Farwell Drive in Fremont on December 5th at 5:00 PM. There will be selection of the following, steak, chicken or fish. I need to know how many will be coming so I can firm up the headcount with the restaurant. Please send me an email, see me at Dino’s or call me to let me know if you will be coming.
If you will or won’t be able to make it I need to know by no later than Wednesday, November 4.
For your convenience I have attached a flyer for the dinner, please fill out and send it to me, call or send me an email.
Remember our regularly scheduled meeting is on the third Wednesday of the month, the next meeting will be on Wednesday November 18, 2009, we look forward to seeing everyone at Fremont Ford at 6:30PM.
Actions underway or (still) in progress
Matt has started to update the photos on the electronic display at Dino’s.
Matt is working with the web designer on some changes to our web site and see if we can develop a chat room.
